Check out CPRD's fields here and tell me, are all the kids in the program being served?
Local teams are struggling to find space. Some kids travel out of town to practice, while others can’t access fields reserved for private clubs.
Board-level policy should support CPRD staff and working families. There needs to be better communication and the current board does not prioritize this on a policy level.
As a board member, I will prioritize:
Public facing field reservation policy - our families should be able to know what fields are tax payer funded and how to access them
Support long-term strategy for increasing field space and and availability
Advocate for partnerships and sponsorships with local business to fund equipment and player support
Encourage community input to guide practical, fiscally responsible expansion
Every child deserves a place to play.
Across the district, we see more than just normal wear and tear—there are broken tables, missing slides, and more. How do families feel about these issues?
Has maintenance been a Board priority in the past few years?
As a Board Director, I will advocate for a transparent maintenance accountability plan. This would include:
Online dashboard system where the public can report issues and view submitted reports, similar to the City of Newberg's "See, Click, Fix" program
Easy access to the CPRD budget with clear maintenance funds highlighted
Timeline for repairs and updates
Progress reports showing completed projects and next steps
This kind of system helps build trust, keeps the community in the loop, and makes sure staff time and your tax dollars are being used in the smartest way possible.
I believe that backroom deals should not happen. That Board members should not make decisions based on private donors, special interests, or higher government tipping the scales. Something I hope all past, present, and future Board members can agree on.
As a public service, the CPRD Board must be transparent in educating our community about the parks, facilities, and programs available to them. If there is a fee involved, we need to know why. If a slide is missing, we need a public serving policy to let them know why it's missing and when it will be replaced.
The Board sets the policy. And as your board member, I will prioritize listening to your voice and listening to staff how we can create better policy so your voice is actually heard.
For instance, did you know there's actually a phone number to notify CPRD about maintenance issues? I didn't until I walked into the admin office.
Here it is:
